And the Winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 2 Is…
Herstory has been made!
In the season two finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Alaska sashayed away with the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar, landing the $100,000 prize in the process. Alaska beat out nine returning All Star queens for the title, including runner-ups Detox and Katya.
“I am honored, humbled, and grateful for the great responsibility which has been laid upon my dainty, tiny, diminutive shoulders,” Alaska said of the big win. “As your newly crowned queen of Earth, it is my first royal decree that flats are sexy and nails are optional. Let us be kind to one another and be slow to anger. Hold on to your dream; hold on to your dream- because if it can happen for me, it can happen for you. Anus-thing is possible.”
RuPaul added, “On every level Alaska raised the bar this season and earned her place in the Drag Race Hall of Fame. To Detox, Katya and all my super talented All Star queens, I have nothing but gratitude for your brilliance in making this the most sickening season in Drag Race herstory.”
The fan-favorite Alaska, 30, first competed in season five of RuPaul’s Drag Race, coming in second place to Jinkx Monsoon.
And the Drag Race All Stars fun isn’t over yet, as a reunion special featuring all of season two’s queens will air on Oct. 27, while RuPaul’s Drag Race season nine will premiere this spring to Logo.
In September, RuPaul took home his first Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program after eight seasons of hosting the beloved show.
“I’m in a state of shock right now. I really did not expect this,” he told E! News. “Honestly, I feel like I’m in a dream and it’s not really happening.”
He continued, “This so special for me because of the 100 plus girls who have so graciously told their stories on our show, who have traveled the world as ambassadors of…dancing to the beat of a different drummer.”
