Natelege Mundle is Miss Hopewell High

Fresh from winning the Jamaica 4-H Club Girl of the year for Hanover, Natelege Mundle, 15, secured yet another title, Miss Hopewell High School.

With her mind squarely wrapped around an ambitious career as a lawyer, Mundle used her skills and experiences garnered from being a member of the Hopewell High School’s 4-H club to outperformed nine others contestants to take the coveted title.

She said winning the 4-H Girl of the Year for Hanover back in March helped to build her confidence to enter her schools’ 2019 pageant.

“After going to the national 4-H Girl of the Year pageant and losing, I was feeling a little down, but when I assess the comments from teachers and friends of my performance at that competition, I got a little boost to try to win the Miss Hopewell High,” Mundle told the WESTERN STAR, after she was crowned Miss Hopewell High School.

The grand coronation took place last Wednesday, April 17, in the quadrangle of the school complex.

“I am feeling so good to know that I was able to do that – it helps to build my self-confidence and allows me to be more of an open-minded person because growing up, I was very shy, never like to talk a lot,” she said.

“My focus now is to enter the Mr and Miss Jamaica High School, and the Miss Hopewell community pageants later this year,” she said.

“I also want to establish an organisation that helps girls my age and older to build their self-esteem, so that they can be more confident in making decisions as they go through life,” the 15-year-old Miss Hopewell High added.

“I will start that process with the help of my teachers at school and then gradually mushroom into the wider Hopewell community,” she continued.

She was adjudged the most aware contestant and the one who had the most creative wear. She shared the prize for best performer with Tresona Gardner.

Keisha Reid won the prize for most congenial, Ashanti Rankin for best evening wear, Shantae Bowell for most poised, and Deanna Cunningham for the most improved.
