Yesterday, I received a comprehensive update from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vanessa Clarke, who is currently leading operations in the St. Andrew South Division.

She reported that no major crimes have been recorded in the division since April began. This is the result of focused police operations, targeted patrols, and strong community partnerships.

But beyond enforcement, it was great to learn about the community programs targeting youth; from football matches in Greenwich Farm to school mentorships, youth clubs, and homework programmes. These efforts are helping guide young people away from crime and into more positive paths.

To our young men especially,
Jamaica is growing. There is opportunity for you. Training is available for free through HEART, and there are real jobs waiting if you take the step.

Crime is a choice, and many young Jamaicans are choosing differently, even in tough situations. I urge you to do the same. Your government and your police are here to support you.
