Chozenn challenges kids’ Bible knowledge | Entertainment
Gospel artiste Chozenn is getting children excited about the scripture with his Jesus Rock Kids Bible Challenge, and is looking forward to spread God’s word at gospel show 658 Fest.
The dancehall-reggae gospel artiste, given name Duane Besentie, is giving children 14 years and younger a chance to win $50,000 in cash and back-to-school supplies, through a social media bible challenge, entries for which opened on July 16.
It is actually a follow-up to his Jesus Rock Challenge, which was a dance competition done to his song, Jesus Rock.
“I’m a father and I’ve been to a lot of schools and been around a lot of children. The total agenda for this challenge is to boost self-confidence, cancel low self-esteem and of course spread the Bible by music ministry,” Chozenn told Gospel Spotlight.
The artiste said the new challenge has been an exciting journey for him, the children and their parents. For the challenge, children have to find two lines from the song, Jesus Rock and search for a scripture that aligns with these lines then submit it as a video.
“The fun factor is searching for the scriptures, researching the Bible, doing their bible study and blending the scripture to those unique lines from the song,” he said.
The challenge is being funded by a collaboration between Chozenn Media Group and Journey Music, who are the producers of Jesus Rock.
Chozenn said he was inspired to write Jesus Rock after his father died from COVID-19. He said he was led by God to write the song, which serves as a form of encouragement for him and his family and he is very proud of the global recognition it has received.
Chozenn is not just challenging users on social media. He will also be among the artistes performing at the 658 Fest, scheduled for August 7 at the Police Officers’ Club on Hope Road, St Andrew. He said that he felt very excited and humbled to be part of this production.
“This is more than just a performance, it’s more than just going on stage and performing. This is a new era, a new level, a new realm, and just to be in God’s presence it must be felt,” he said.
He is planning a worship medley for his performance, including songs like God Love Yuh Enuh and Jesus Rock.
