The Government has been working behind the scenes to refine a new set of measures that will enable the economy to continue, but to also have control on movements that will prevent the spread of the COVID19 virus.
The control of movement has been the principal tool of government in controlling the spread of the virus. We have used the curfew hours and gathering rules, however, greater effort has to be made in resetting the minds of the people.
The significant increase in our case numbers is a reflection that as a country we have become somewhat complacent in our adherence to the infection prevention and control protocols.
The best solution is to get every single Jamaican to follow the standard protocols – washing and sanitizing hands, wearing a properly fitted mask and maintaining physical distance — which are effective in preventing the spread of the virus.
We all need to exercise the vigilance and care that we did before, that enabled us to flatten the curve.
