Halie aims to stand out as a producer | Entertainment
At just 23, Vannesa ‘Halie’ Dixon has made it her mission to be one of Jamaica’s leading producers and is one step closer to that goal following a series of successful releases.
The Manchester native launched her Ragz To Richez Production label in 2016 and has since then prided herself in perfecting her craft.
“The decision to do production was an easy one because I was always around musicians. After seeing how songs were put together, I was impressed and eventually I started to bring the ideas in my head to life and it was just greatness moving forward. I also play the keyboard which plays an important role in adding my own personal touches to each beat we compose at Ragz To Richez,” she said.
A year after emerging, Halie managed to score singles from artistes like Vershon and Devin di Dakta on her Love Lane rhythm, granting her a worthy entrance.
By 2020, the label got its first major hit from dancehall artiste Ding Ding, titled Mirror on the Public Figure rhythm. The compilation also boasts songs from Kemar Highcon and Qraig from Voicemail.
” Mirror opened a lot of doors for me as a producer because it was one of summer 2020’s biggest songs. The song created waves at Sumfest, which led to us shooting the official video,” she said. ” Whap by Kemar Highcon ruled the summer as well while Outside Mi Deh by Qraig copped a lot of international airplay, so every song has its own bragging rights. The journey has so far been hard work and it has also brought me to a level where my work is being internationally recognised and for that I am grateful.”
To close out 2020, Halie released What’s Love by Intence, the video for which has surpassed a million Vevo streams. After a successful 2020, the multifaceted producer decided to team up with Ding Ding once again to kick-start 2021 with Good Gyal. Halie is also dabbling in artiste development, taking on a lead role in the career of up-and-coming artiste Shremkell.
