JayBlem eyes successful recording career | Entertainment
Athlete-turned-deejay JayBlem is eyeing a serious career as a recording artiste as his latest single, Account, is blowing up on FM radio.
“I love music more than anything else. I am not surprised that this is my profession at this age because I’ve been doing music professionally since age 14,” the talented 18-year-old said.
JayBlem, given name Jaheim Cox, has been representing Kingston College’s track and field programme. “I choose music but I’m also still very interested in my academics and performing well in sports,” he said.
He has distinguished himself as an elite athlete, representing both his school and Jamaica, racking up medals in the long jump, triple jump, and 4×100 relay. Now, he is trying to sell gold with his Account, which was produced by JB Productions.
“The response has been phenomenal so far, 10,000 plus views in only a few days. The girl dem love the BlemBloss flavour, so the views are climbing,” he said. The visuals for the single were provided by Dark Moon Cinema.
JayBlem has released a number of other singles like Regular and Top Freak, all for the JB Productions label to which he recently inked a recording and booking deal.
“He is very talented. He is a complete young artiste, whether cultural, hardcore dancehall, or reggae, he can deliver,” said Jermaine Baker, CEO of the label.
JayBlem was raised in Allman Town, Kingston. His first song was distributed on his own label, Blem Boss Music in 2018. He soon built a supportive fan base with early releases. He started to gain more recognition after doing live performances and getting played on the radio. JayBlem’s love for music is genuine and believes his talent was passed on to him by his father, veteran deejay Danny English.
“My deejay style is more of a hardcore one, lyrical and singjay, my style dem different,” said JayBlem.
