Lando Genius looks to ‘ride on’ with new single | Entertainment
Dancehall producer Lando Genius is banking on the success of his latest single, ‘Ride On’, which appears to have struck a chord with DJs and dancehall enthusiasts.
A video of the song was recently released and is currently doing the rounds on social media.
“The response has been great so far. The song a play in the few parties all over the Corporate Area, Spanish Town, May Pen. Now that the video has been released, I am bracing for the impact from this song. It is already an anthem with the ladies, and it will be on almost every dancehall mixtape this summer,” he said.
Lando Genius, who is known for his work with Shawn Storm, Singing Sweet, Gaza Publisha and Tifa, also defended dancehall against claims that the content of the music is at an all-time low due to the production of explicit material.
“The music has always had explicit material intended for adult audiences. Surely, this generation did not create the concept of slack music. Therefore, I would advise some of the critics from the previous generation to look hard at themselves. Even though I hold that view, I also want to encourage the youths to add some social commentary to the mix,” he said.
Ride On was written and performed by up-and-coming dancehall artiste Slim Shadow, and is Lando Genius’ most raunchy record to date. The producer is currently working on his debut album, set to be distributed by Zojack.
“The album will feature various artistes and I am looking to do numbers on the charts with this one. The first impression should always be memorable, and my intention is to make a classic like the greats are known to do with their first projects, because I consider myself [being] cut from the same cloth,” he said
