Layla Rhule releases ‘Get Away’ | Entertainment
Jamaican singer Layla Rhule has released a soulful yet powerfully themed reggae track titled Get Away.
The self-produced track, which was released last month, focuses primarily on moving on.
“Sometimes we put up with things because of lack of self-esteem, nowhere else to go and other issues. This song is really about letting go and finally moving on powerfully, and not fearing what may lie ahead,” she said.
The accompanying music video is currently in the planning stage and promises to deliver a stunning concept, which the singer is most excited about. Shooting is expected to be under way in the coming weeks.
While the Kingston-born singer has been steadily building her name for the past three years, music has been part of her life from an early age.
“I’ve been playing the piano since I was 11 and I began singing around 17,” she explained. Mixing her sounds with reggae, R & B, pop and dancehall, the singer has a goal to ensure that her music not only sounds good but leaves a lasting impression as well.
“I really believe in the power of a message. I think strong messages have been lacking in mainstream music for a while now and it’s something I want to bring back; music that makes you ‘feel’, rather than just for listening at a party alone,” she said. “Of course I love a good, happy song but sometimes I think we have forgotten about the power of music and the importance of the message. In the words of Lauryn Hill ‘Music is supposed to inspire’.”
Since her entry into the industry, she has developed an impressive catalogue so far, with singles such as You Deserve That Oscar, Aftereffects and Let’s Talk About It.
At the moment, she is working on another single, as well as her debut EP which is slated for a release later this year.
Get Away is available for purchase and streaming on major digital platforms such as Spotify, Tidal and Deezer.
