Singer Kumar Fyah loses newborn son | Entertainment
Reggae singer Kumar ‘Kumar Fyah’ Bent and wife Sashagay are grieving the loss of their newborn son who was born last Tuesday.
The Remember Me singer revealed the saddening news to his over 27,000 followers on Instagram three days after. Speaking to THE STAR, Kumar Fyah expressed gratitude for the heartfelt messages.
“We are very grateful for the support from family, friends and colleagues globally and knowing that Kaleb’s memory lives on,” he said. Kumar Fyah and his wife named their son Kaleb (an alternative spelling of Caleb), which means ‘wholehearted’ and ‘powerful’.
“He spent a short time here,” Kumar Fyah said, explaining that they barely had two days with Kaleb, who passed last Thursday.
Kumar Fyah said that the reasons being given for his newborn’s death was a combination of breathing complications and heart-related issues, but that, “we are still waiting on a full confirmation on what exactly caused this to happen”.
On his announcement, the Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter shared that he could not think, eat or sleep and felt numb.
“It has been some rough days but I am slowly learning to cope and also helping my wife, as well as Malachai, our seven-year-old son, to remain hopeful and positive,” he said. “It’s the hardest, most shocking thing to ever happen in my life. This is something I think my family and I will have to live with and just turn the tears into a celebration of his life.”
Naomi Cowan, Jesse Royal, Gramps Morgan, Romain Virgo and Warrior King are among the entertainers to send condolences and prayers to Kumar Fyah and his family.
